The signs of aging are a natural part of life. Your collagen and elastin become weak and your skin sags, you get wrinkles and you lose volume in your cheeks and lips. But strolling down the beaches of New Jersey, you would think that aging didn’t apply to any of the other beach-goers. At the office of Dr. Gregory E. Rauscher, M.D. in Hackensack, NJ, we’d like to talk to you about facial rejuvenation.
What Is Included in Facial Rejuvenation?
If you ever admire the apparent youth of people in NJ, you’re not alone. It seems that nobody looks their chronological age these days. With the help of facial rejuvenation, this can apply to you, too. But what exactly do such treatments and procedures entail? Well, they entail anything you need them to. Here is a brief overview of our most popular services:
A facelift is by far the most popular facial rejuvenation services we offer. This procedure is designed to tighten and lift lax skin around the chin and cheeks. It is usually combined with a neck lift and sometimes a forehead lift.
Your face is rejuvenated during this procedure by the removal of excess skin, and, if applicable, the removal of excess fat and the lifting and tightening of the remaining facial skin. If necessary, Dr. Rauscher will tighten your underlying facial muscles to further enhance your aesthetic.
Botox Cosmetic is another incredibly popular facial rejuvenation service we offer. This treatment was FDA approved in 2002 to erase moderate-to-severe wrinkles and folds from the face. Depending on your facial structure and aesthetic goals, it can also be used as a non-invasive brow lift.
Treatment with Botox takes between three and 15 minutes to complete depending on the extent of the correction you need as well as the size of the areas you are treating. You will start to see results in one to three days, and the results last anywhere from three to six months, usually.
Botox is a neuromodulator, making it perfect for rejuvenating skin wrinkled by hyperactive muscles. However, some wrinkles are caused by collagen loss. That’s where Restylane shines. This hyaluronic acid-based treatment injects you with an all-natural substance to support the underlying structure of your skin.
At the same time, it encourages your body to produce its own collagen: a protein essential for keeping your skin tight, voluminous, smooth and rejuvenated. This injectable can be used to restore volume and symmetry to the lips and cheeks as well as smooth wrinkles for up to six months.
Restylane is adequate for adding volume to areas with mild-to-moderate collagen loss. However, significant problems require powerful treatment. That’s where Sculptra comes in. Sculptra is an FDA-approved treatment designed to correct facial fat loss. This heavy hitter is designed for the deepest folds, most severe wrinkles. and extreme fat loss in the cheeks.
On average, people require a vial of Sculptra per decade to achieve fully rejuvenated skin. In other words, clients who are 30 typically require three vials to add adequate volume to their faces. Clients who are 60 typically require six vials for the desired effect.
Juvederm is another hyaluronic acid-based filler FDA-approved to add volume to common areas of volume loss, such as your lips, cheeks, forehead and the skin around your mouth. This type of dermal filler typically includes lidocaine in the formula. However, if you are allergic to lidocaine and still think Juvederm is right for you, we can accommodate that.
Juvederm is typically preferred over Restylane due to the advanced Hylacross technology used to create smooth, malleable gel. The results of treatment look completely natural and can last anywhere from 18 months to two years depending on your skin health and a few other factors.
Rhinoplasty is an oft-overlooked aesthetic service because most people think they have to settle for the size and shape of their nose. Unless there is something wrong with the functionality of their nose, they just don’t seek treatment. Your nose is in the center of your face and one of the first things people notice about you.
If you are not quite satisfied with the size or shape of your nose, Dr. Rauscher has several techniques at his disposal to sculpt the underlying bone and cartilage structure to enhance the aesthetic of your nose. He can also straighten a deviated septum if you have trouble breathing while lying on your back.
Nearly all of our clients who receive a facelift also receive a neck lift. The skin on your neck is so thin that it is one of the first places to show the signs of aging. While a neck lift can remove excess skin and tighten and lift the remaining skin, that’s not all it can do. A neck lift can also be used to remove excess fat and muscle and restructure the muscle.
If you can’t achieve your desired aesthetic with injectables, Dr. Rauscher offers a minimally invasive cheek lift known as the endoscopic mid-facelift. To learn more, please call our New Jersey office to learn more.
