At the office of Dr. Gregory E. Rauscher, M.D. in Hackensack, NJ, we are proud to offer a number of cosmetic procedures and treatments designed to sculpt the ideal contours. One of our most popular procedures is a Brazilian butt lift (BBL). Today, we are taking a closer look at what you can expect from this procedure, including how long you can expect the results to last.
How Long Will a Butt Lift Last?
A butt lift’s initial results will only last for several months, but you can generally expect the final results to last forever.
This procedure works in just a few steps. The first step is removing excess subcutaneous fat cells from donor areas. The second step is preparing the fat for injection. The third step is injecting the adipose tissue into strategic areas in the buttocks to improve the contours and tighten the skin.
How Soon Will I See My Ideal Results?
You can generally expect to enjoy your final BBL results after six months. However, individual experiences vary significantly based on numerous factors, including the decisions you make during your recovery process.
What Can I Do to Ensure the Best Possible Recovery Process?
There are many important guidelines you will need to follow to ensure your recovery process goes as smoothly as possible. Staying hydrated is one of the most important things you will need to do to ensure you heal as efficiently as possible. Another very important guideline to follow is to nourish your body.
Ideally, you should maintain your weight during the first six months post-op. It’s okay if you go over your TDEE by a little bit. On the other hand, it is very important that you do not operate at a caloric deficit. This will help to ensure your final augmentation results are satisfactory. You may want to create a meal plan with food that provides you with all of the nutrients you need to heal quickly. You also may find meal prep beneficial.
How Else Should I Prepare for My Recovery Process?
Another helpful tip to ensure your recovery process goes smoothly for you is to get your prescription medications filled before your procedure. To mitigate your risk of post-op infection, you will need to take a full course of antibiotics. You will also receive a prescription for analgesics to help keep you comfortable.
You also need to make sure that there is someone available to take care of you and your home for the first 24 hours post-op. You will not be able to drive after your procedure, so you will need to arrange for a ride home. Once you’re home, it is important that you have someone to help you out because you may find yourself extremely tired.
Am I a Good Candidate for This Procedure?
Attending an initial consultation is the only way to know for sure whether you are a good candidate for a butt lift. During this consultation, we will discuss your health history and present your health thoroughly to verify that this procedure will be safe for you. We will also evaluate your areas of concern and have an in-depth conversation about your goals to ensure this procedure will be effective for you.
Generally, we look for adult non-smokers who are concerned with the appearance of their buttocks and are neither underweight nor obese. It is important that you are not underweight because, often, underweight people do not have enough excess subcutaneous fat to be harvested successfully with liposuction. It is not ideal to be obese for several reasons. For example, obese individuals may not be healthy enough for surgery. Also, they may not be satisfied with the lipo results.
What Health Conditions Do You Take Into Consideration?
We strongly consider all of your medical histories, including the drugs and supplements you currently take, to make a determination on whether a BBL will be safe for you. Among the factors that will affect your candidacy negatively are:
- Pregnancy
- Uncontrolled diabetes
- Renal failure
- Cancer
- Heart disease
- A blood clotting disorder
Can I Qualify for a BBL If I Plan to Become Pregnant?
You may be able to qualify for this procedure if you plan to become pregnant in the future. If you are currently trying to become pregnant or not taking any steps to prevent pregnancy, you will need to hold off on surgery. If you feel comfortable waiting until you have recovered from surgery to start trying to get pregnant, you may qualify for this procedure.
Schedule Your Initial Consultation Today
You should not expect your initial BBL results to last forever, but you can expect long-lasting final results. On paper, these results last forever because your body neither eliminates nor produces fat cells past 25 years of age. If you’re in the New Jersey area and think a Brazilian butt lift would help you improve your self-confidence, contact us today at the office of Dr. Gregory E. Rauscher, M.D. in Hackensack, NJ to schedule your initial consultation.
