If you feel self-conscious due to sagging buttocks and stubborn fat pockets, a butt lift may be right for you. Keep reading to discover everything you need to know.

How Long Does a Butt Lift Take?

A butt lift, or BBL, usually takes between two and three hours to complete. That said, we can’t advise you on exactly how long you should expect your procedure to take until we have evaluated your areas of concern and gained a complete understanding of your goals. If you need other cosmetic procedures in addition to your BBL, like a thigh lift or tummy tuck, your procedure may take closer to four to six hours to complete.

The scope of the BBL also significantly affects how long your procedure will take. For instance, your procedure won’t take long if you only need to have a modest amount of fat taken from one donor area to be processed and injected into your buttocks. If you need a lot of fat removed from several problem areas, your procedure will take longer.

How Long Does This Procedure Take to Work?

You will be able to notice an immediate improvement in your treated contours once your procedure is complete. The fat donor areas will feel and look slimmer, and your buttocks will look more shapely. However, it will be a while before you can enjoy the full benefits of this procedure.

Your final results will not become apparent until your skin has healed and settled into its new position and your transplanted fat has finished taking hold in your buttocks. Generally, you can expect to see your final results approximately six months following your procedure.

How Long Can I Expect My Results to Last?

BBL results should last for years, but there are a significant number of factors that affect the longevity of the results. Fortunately, there are several things you can do to ensure that your optimal results last for as long as possible. The most important step you can take to extend the longevity of your results is to consume enough calories to maintain your weight during the first six months following your procedure. You should also:

Am I a Good Candidate for This Procedure?

To be considered a good BBL candidate, you must have enough extra subcutaneous fat in other areas of your body to harvest for transfer. If you are underweight, you may not have enough fat to augment and lift your buttocks sufficiently. Typically, we look for at least an inch of pinchable fat in a large area, like the lower back, thighs, hips, or stomach. However, liposuction can be used to remove fat from just about anywhere with adequate fat stores.

You also must be in relatively good health to be considered a good candidate for this fat grafting procedure. For instance, you should not have high blood pressure, and there are certain medications you must be able to not take prior to surgery. Furthermore, you should have realistic expectations about the procedure, including what results can be enjoyed. Moreover, it is important that your skin is relatively elastic.

What Preparation Steps Will I Need to Take?

For this procedure to be safe for you, it is essential that you not be on any drugs or supplements that prevent your blood from clotting normally or thin your blood. We will advise you on all of the pharmaceuticals that you will need to avoid during your initial consultation, but some of the most common drugs and supplements you will need to avoid include vitamin E supplements, certain antidepressants, and NSAIDs, like aspirin or ibuprofen.

It is also very important that your blood pressure be normal, so you will not be able to smoke or drink alcohol. Avoiding the consumption of alcohol and tobacco products is also important because it will help your recovery go more smoothly, so if you want to get a BBL, you should be willing and able to go without smoking or drinking alcohol for a couple of weeks after surgery. Other important preparation steps include:
